Panagia Pontobasilissa Kilisesi (Kemerli Kilise) – Bursa

Panagia Pontobasilissa ya da beldede tanınan adıyla Kemerli Kilise, duvarlarına resim yapılan ilk kilise olarak bilinmektedir. Kilisenin Panagia Pantobasillissa’ya (Hz. Meryem) adandığı bazı el yazması eserlerde belirtilmektedir. Kilise, doğu-batı doğrultusunda uzanan Yunan haçı şemasına sahiptir. Yapı kullanılmasa da halen ayaktadır. İlk yapının duvar tekniği göz önünde bulundurularak, 13. yüzyıl sonlarında yapıldığı kabul edilmektedir. Hıristiyan âlemi için büyük önem taşıyan bu kilisenin duvarlarında kat kat resimler bulunmaktadır. İlk tabaka freskleri 14. yüzyıl başlarına, ikinci tabaka freskleri ise 18. yüzyıla (1723) tarihlenmektedir. Sütunlarının İskenderiye’den getirildiği rivayet edilir. Yapı dış cephesindeki destek payandaları nedeniyle halk arasında Kemerli Kilise olarak adlandırılmaktadır. Kilisenin duvarlarıyla, kubbesi sağlam durumdadır. The Panagia Pontobasilissa Church

Known as Panagia Pontobasilissa or the Kemerli Church is known as the first church to be painted on its walls. It is mentioned in some manuscript works that it is dedicated to Panagia Pantobasillissa (Mary). The church has a Greek cross, extending in the east-west direction. Although the building is not used, it is still standing. Considering the wall technique of the first building, it is considered to have been built in the late 13th century. There are layers of paintings on the walls of this church which are of great importance for the Christian world. The first layer frescoes are dated to the beginning of the 14th century and the second layer frescoes are dated to the 18th century (1723). It is rumored that the pillars were brought from Alexandria. The building is called the Kemerli Church because of the support for the buttress of the outside of the building.
